Sonnet to the Sun
[original]
Oh glorious this gilded sunny morning!
The wind is cool, the forest scent runs deep.
O hark! c’mon, c’mon, wake up, darling!
We’ve so much harvest in the air to reap.
Hush! let nature’s rainbow confetti splay
Bifoliate leaves and flower clovers —
Catch the flutter of that grass yellow’s ray!
Watch it dapple freely ‘mongst the rovers.
Above me, beside me, mynas monkeying
While lanceolate leaves crawl from underneath
The white-bellied sea eagle’s constant ring!
Such lovely, harmless spears too bright to sheathe.
Delightful interface of summer and spring!
Oh glorious this gilded sunny morning!

[simple English]
Oh glory to this golden sunny morning!
The wind is cool, the forest air runs deep.
O hark! c’mon, c’mon, wake up, darling!
We’ve so much harvest in the air to reap.
Hush! let nature’s rainbow confetti sing
All the heart-shaped leaves and flower clovers —
Catch the flutter of that grass yellow’s wing!
Watch it bubble freely ‘mongst the rovers.
Above me, beside me, mynas monkeying
While long and sharp leaves crawl from underneath
The white-bellied sea eagle’s constant ring!
Such lovely, harmless spears you must not sheathe.
Delightful mix of summer and spring!
Oh glory to this golden sunny morning!
